Statement from CEO, Adrian Krion
Having been a gamer my entire life, there’s nothing I’ve wanted more than to traverse the boundaries of individual games. I first had this dream back in the early 2000s, but I never deemed true interoperability between games to be possible until the rise of Web3.
With Web3, we’re finally able to get true connectivity across games in multiple dimensions — with items, assets, and social aspects. This — in theory — allows not just for exciting new experiences and a much fairer and more transparent industry, but for games to be built WITH players, not just FOR them.
Web3 in games has been frowned upon by many players, and its adoption in the industry was much slower than I had anticipated when we started back in 2018. Today, there is a lot more traction for Web3 games, with thousands of titles in the making that will utilize the power of Web3. We want to enable everyone to interact with these games in the most seamless way possible.
We’ve come a long way since founding Spielworks and launching our first products. We’ve built what is considered the most comprehensive Web3 gaming ecosystem in the world by many, and indisputably one of the largest. We’ve always strived to make everything as easy and seamless as possible, especially for those who haven’t interacted with Web3 before.
With the acquisitions that we’ve made in the past 10 months, there is a need for us to consolidate. This means combining products and their functionalities (e.g. integrating the social features of Wasder into Wombat), as well as merging our two existing tokens, $WOMBAT and $WAS, into one new asset, with a joint narrative and consistency in its use.
This also means making the community a larger part of our decision-making. We want every person experiencing our ecosystem to become a stakeholder (as in, a holder of our new token), and at the same time, we want every token holder to be an integral part of our ecosystem.
Even before we decided to merge our two existing tokens, we were already working on fresh positioning for Spielworks as a company, our ecosystem, and the roles of our individual products. Now, we’re ready to present some of the work that we’ve been doing.
AI, and how it can work alongside Web3, will play a big role in what’s to come for Spielworks. Recent developments in AI and DePIN have made it clear to us that the gaming industry cannot neglect them.
These technologies have laid the foundation for the PlayMind Protocol, presented here for the first time, and which will become a core part of our gaming ecosystem.
PlayMind aims to empower fair, safe and secure usage of user-generated data in games, powered to AI. It will allow players to utilize and monetize their playtime by offering the play data they’ve created to train AI agents, which can then be shared or traded with other players to hone their skills, amplify their progress, and unlock new experiences.
PlayMind will be powered by the new $PLAI token, which will be born from the merge of the $WOMBAT and $WAS tokens. This merge will be a major challenge for us, but we’re confident that it’s the right thing to do, and that the result will be a much stronger token with more utility, liquidity and potential.
While PlayMind represents a major part of the future of the $PLAI token, we’re also working on improving the here and now. All existing and planned utilities for $WOMBAT and $WAS will be migrated to $PLAI, and it will continue to be at the heart of the Wombat, Dungeon Master and AtomicHub products.
We’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with Web3 and AI in Gaming - and we want you to be a part of it.
Let’s change the industry together,
Adrian
